Last week Ann Arbor witnessed the opening of 9 new eateries, 7 of which are street food carts located in the heart of downtown. A small food revolution is underway. People were flocking to Mark’s Carts located right behind Downtown Home and Garden in the block of Washington between Ashley and 1st. I highly recommend a visit and make sure you eat at Eat cart and Darcey’s cart. Darcey’s is brewing RoosRoast! I will be heading down there today with Jozo for a mid-day snack, trying to keep on my new vegan diet which of course includes coffee!
Last night, the vegan diet happily fell by the wayside as Kath and I partook in a sneak preview of Mani Osteria on Liberty and Division, with a menu devised by former Everyday Cook chef, Brendan McCall. Mani Osteria is an Italy-inspired tavern with wood fired pizza, house made pasta, complete with Campari cocktails. I’ll say Italian-inspired because this is no ordinary food experience, Italian or otherwise. This is off the charts, creative cooking and the food is orgasmic. The restaurant officially opens on Tuesday.
On the way home we stopped in to see how things were going for the opening weekend of The Raven’s Club right on Main in the block of Washington and Liberty. I’m proud to say they were packed and brewing RoosRoast in this cozy speak-easy style eatery from the people who brought you Old Town.
In one week, Ann Arbor brought home the bacon and cooked it up in a pan. The food revolution will not be televised, it will be eaten.
