I’ve been listening to some mixes by DJ Shadow lately and it’s sounding really nice. Check him out on YouTube because I’m not going to pretend to know how to insert a link on wordpress even though I’ve done it before and now it’s like I’m in a different world and it’s not working and when I go to insert the link, I’m looking at pictures of my wife’s old boyfriend in iphoto that I some how clicked and could post. He looks like a really nice guy but I know you want to be listening to some DJ Shadow while you read this post. Check out: Building steam with a grain of salt. The beats are essential like good espresso.
This Week I’m checking out the Presso Espresso Maker and Japan Porlex hand burr grinder for my morning cup. Here is a lesson in drinking coffee totally off the grid and unplugged from the world. Here is a lesson in wanting, caring, experimenting, learning, and taking the time and attention to detail to produce amazing espresso.
This shot is fresh roast, hand ground and hand pressed. Dude, with these coffee tools you are so un-plugged you could be in the mall or air port, behind the wheel of my car, hey wait don’t make espresso and drive!
Here’s how you use the Presso and the hand grinder:
1. I had to set the burrs for a really fine grind and turn the crank on 21 grams of RoosRoast
2. put it in the porta-filter
3.tamp it down
4. add hot water (if you’re inside, use a kettle. if you’re outside, start a damn fire and boil your own water, tina.)
5. infuse the shot and slowly lower the Presso Arms.
I produced these amazing creme shots after 3 tries. The learning curve is not steep. If you have some basic skills like making ice cubes, nacho’s or a quesadilla you can do this trust me.
What makes this better then the AeroPress? It produces real espresso with creme.
Would you like it with a lemon twist?
No don’t be stupid.
Thanks for checking this out.

Thanks for your excellent suggestions for totally off-grid quality espresso. What a great addition to my camping rig. Thanks for making the Presso available, but I did not see the Porlex hand grinder offered for sale on your site. Do you make it available? If not, can you tell me the model number so I could search?
Thanks,
Ken
Hi Ken,
Thanks so much! We’re glad you like the coffee!!
The hand grinder is on the website for sale. Just go to “Buy Coffee” then click “coffee making stuff” in the right hand corner and it’s at the bottom.
Best,
John
