Over the last two months we have seen an amazing amount of customers walking in the door of our shop and visiting us at the Ann Arbor Farmers Market on Wednesday and Saturday.
The requests for more great Single Origins keep coming. Yes, we have our 6 incredible tasting time-tested blends with freak-show names like Lobster Butter Love, Rich French Neighbor and Mother Pheasant Plucker…but we also have over 30 types of green coffee in house at anytime!
Each of these coffees comes from a different part of the world and has a flavor profile all it’s own. (no we don’t flavor the coffee or carry flavored coffee). There is so much to learn about coffee and this blog is set aside for talking about recent arrivals!
This week there has been a lot of great coffee arriving at our dock.
This Ethiopian Sidamo Nura Korate fair trade organic arrived Tuesday in grain pro bags (these bags take the FRESHNESS of your RoosRoast coffee to the next level, look out for the Honduran that will be arriving in grain pro bags any day!).
Right from the start, getting green coffee in these bags sets it apart from everything else. Just another measure of freshness. We carefully roasted this into first crack. There was some chaff still coming off the beans.
During my cupping yesterday with beans right out of the roaster, I was blown away by the richness and full body taste while still holding the characteristic fruity sweetness. My notes read: English breakfast black tea, honey, nectarine, fennel and clove. This was like the chai of coffee.

John Roos and Alexander "Hamlet" Jarosev cupping some fresh roasted coffee!

It’s an amazing haunting coffee. I’m home now, forgot my sample of this mind-blowing coffee at work, so writing this I have not yet had coffee and have been thinking about this coffee non-stop and wondering what it’s going to taste like today after resting over night!
Before I go to the shop I want to send a special shout out to Coval Fitness & Sports Performance for educating their clients on why coffee is better than chemical-packed sugary “energy” drinks and taking the original energy drink (coffee) back to the roots by always slamming cups of RoosRoast coffee! You guys rule. Thanks so much (When you guys get your coffee blog up let us know and we’ll link to you babes!)
