BYO French Press and More - Friday, May 16th

After a rough night on the town in mixed company, how does one resolve the conflict between the need for a greasy-spoon diner breakfast and the understandable disdain for the fair-to-middling java served at most 24-hour establishments? The answer: the highly portable French press.

I wouldn't suggest grinding your own tableside, since that takes coffee snobbery a little too far (although I have done it on occasion). Instead, show up with your course ground ready, sweetly hit up the wonderful person serving you for some hot water, and you'll be drinking The Roos no matter where you go. Be sure to throw your waitstaff a few extra bucks for the trouble so they’ll look the other way if you’re breaking any health codes.

Other related subjects which may later be discussed at length: Brewing during power outages, airport brewing, or summer road tripping coffee tips...essentially being able to drink Roos Roast under absolutely any circumstance.

To tell you the truth, drinking espresso is currently vying with eating roasted coffee beans for my personal favorite caffeine fix! I'm loving eating these beautiful light roast Mexican Chiapas right now. Crunch crunch.

Included in this blog is a shot of a recent Thursday at Eve with DJ Aaron Lindell in the house (He's the one in the stylish sweat jacket. I want one! And he plays killer tunes!) You’ll also see Gray, owner of Chelsea Gallery, pulling one of my all time favorite shots of espresso and selling Roos Roast in Jeff Daniels/Jiffy Mix land. Go down to Chelsea and check him out.

Speaking of a complete non sequitur, a lot of people think I'm on drugs all the time. But actually it's just the fully energized, slightly caffeinated, really positive way I see the world. I don't do drugs. Is toothpaste considered a drug? I occasionally take an aspirin. Does that count?

I'm so wired right now I have to stop writing. Until soon.

But while you’re waiting, since they’re worth 1000 words, further explanation through some pictures:

we all enjoy a quality cup of java wherever we go... photos and naming names of places with bad coffee may be offensive to some folks, no?

But that's one of the things that I adore about you, John--the acting crazy stoned thing! Believe it or not, I've never done an illegal drug in my life, and I WISH I could be as cool as you when you are sober :) :)

Hey everyone I'm not saying their coffee is bad I just saying I like fresh strong coffee. So put your money where your mouth is and announce your self and drink the coffee you like. Some people like diner coffee. When I'm doing the truck stop tour I do too but when you spend the night ripping around on a BMW and hanging with rock stars you need Roos Roast the Deep local Ann Arbor experience.
