Is your crazy aunt still in town?

Escape those lingering family members and come hang out with us! We were thinking about closing the day after Christmas but then we were like, WAIT. Remember when we were younger and wished more places were open the day after Christmas so we could go drink coffee and hide from those family members who just don’t know when to go home? So RoosRoast is that place for all you antisocial caffeine addicts. We are open Monday-Friday 730AM-5PM. Come hide out! CAFE RATS UNITE!

Love,

Your friends at RoosRoast

NEW HOURS: RoosRoast NOW OPEN at 7:30 AM M-F

Coffee is an early morning drink. You need RoosRoast early in the morning. That’s why we’ve added hours to our Rosewood headquarters, offering quick brews from lively fresh roasts. Starting on November 28th, 2011, the shop will open at 7:30 am and close at 5 pm.

On other relevant news: The Stadium Bridge is going to be under reconstruction starting on November 28th 2011. This is very good news because once the construction is finished there will be a new bridge! Also because the detour is going to take many folks right down S. Industrial which glides by our shop and this new early morning brew! See what you can do and stop in.

PS Recent arrival African Brundie oh yummy it’s excellent!

Thanks

Less light, more rain, brain not functioning. Check our 2 featured Single Origins.

I would like to thank our resident blogger and coffee expert for this and other blogs. Alexander Jarosev your pallet is most appreciated dude!

Wild man Jake with our 2 featured Beans

We’ll celebrate a day-long market this weekend with a pair of single-origin beans perfect–inscrutable and full of harvest vegetables–for the autumn season. You would expect a classic French roast, darkened fruits and wooded textures, to go well with the leaves and breezes, but nothing is better on a cool day than complex, summery coffee, and so we offer two distinct and distinguished choices.

Ethiopian Harrarr comes first, an earthy and musky perfume over spice fields of root vegetables, and a strong strawberry flavor to go with them. The feel that an entire flavor profile had spent time in a bowl, macerated in balsamic vinegar with chopped olives and parsley, accompanies a dark and dipping chocolate body through fennel and into compelling pine and bergamot whose textures last long after the cup is done. If it sounds unusual, it is: bright and dark, vegetal and floral, and something for everyone.

A standing favorite will accompany the harrar, Guatemalan Huehuetanango and its fresh compote of vegetables with cream. To wit, the first sip may as well have come from a sliced tomatostuffed with leeks and scallions, sprinkled around with dill and basil, one of the strongest vegetable flavors we’ve roasted and a startling (not to mention sophisticated) alternative to sweet, domestic roasts. Celery salt and red currants with an umami flavor similar to sour cream round out the bean, perfect for a dinner made from the market’s ingredients.

The harrar and huehuetanango are only the first of a new, more adventurous style, keeping the wild tastes perfected in the past while branching out into more complex single-origin beans. We intend to add to our classic west coast funk–the dark old tobacco and oak–with a more creative hand in the roasting process, and press constant evolution in flavor profiles far ahead of the sweetened east and roughened west. Try them at the market this Saturday for the latest artful, local, and colorful advances American coffeemaking.

coffee cup lids are like sippy cups for big people

You may be missing out on a large percentage of your coffee experience if you slap a lid on your cup suck it down like a baby.
Coffee enjoyment requires your nose and mouth together working like a team of lawn care specialists.
Think about it, sucking your amazing cup of coffee through a little oval hole in a plastic lid is blocking out all the sensory sensations and deep rooted aroma. Sippy cupping your coffee through a lid is the major hipster faux pas of our current coffee craze. Wake up people and take the lid off before you drink!

Kourtni Johnson sippy cupping

Coffee experts in secret cupping rooms are breathing in the origins, huffing and slurping from special spoons to bring you these gorgeous beans from around the world.
Do you drink your fine wine through a straw?
Don’t get me wrong, covering your coveted cup of joe is fine with me, I’m just saying take the lid off and drink it like a grown up.

Keep searching we’re still here among the bounty of our seasons

Thunder rolling across the morning behind your sleep-ridden mind. Was that thunder, we wonder?

Rain and cooler temperatures. A call for coffee of the RoosRoast nature.

August always move so quickly into fall. While July seems to smolder on forever for the coffee roaster.

It’s the last week  of August and we wonder, with the thunder, where’s summer?

I’m here to assure you summer’s still here so enjoy the bounty of our seasons.

The long songs of crickets, summer leaves  in trees, song birds singing, meeting new people,  making connections, drinking fresh roast dated coffee and  feeding off the earthy bounty of your local farmers.

If you’re reading this you found us. Thank you.

Here’s a reminder; we tend to get shuffled around the Ann Arbor  Farmers Market this time of year with the bounty flowing in. If you don’t see us in our usual spot we are somewhere else so just ask someone where is RoosRoast?  Or, keep you eyes high for our signs.

We  are at the Ann Arbor Farmers Market Wednesdays and Saturdays  from 7 AM To 3 PM and now at the Clarkston Farmers Market  on Saturdays!

If you can’t make the Markets stop by Retail and Roasting on Rosewood right off South Industrial. We are there Monday- Friday 9-5p.

If you can’t come see us in person, order  off this website and have your coffee in 2-3 business days by US mail!

Ok that’s enough for now. Be sure to take in the chilled morning with a cup of RoosRoast, fresh and good, like summer.

Remaining your faithful roaster of fine coffee

Roos

crave cravy COFFEE ~ Ann Arbor Art Fair

FACE IT, FOLKS - If your boggin’ and schloggin’ in this heat wave and wonderin’ where you’re going to get the energy to survive the 2011 Ann Arbor Art Fair,  it’s time to turn to RoosRoast iced brew for power and strength and a cool down. Our Anti-Café is conveniently located away from the sprawl and there is free parking. Using coffee as an art fair managment tool almost isn’t fair the way RoosRoast will  turn you on like a light bulb. Wake and drink, rangers. It’s defensive drinking. Remember no texting and driving the cops are thriving and we want to stayin aliving.

FEED THE ADDICTION. Some folks drink it before they work out, some folks drink it before they play golf, some folks drink it before they do yoga. Yoga + coffee = yogacheffe.

OH, SNAP! If you buy 3  pounds of coffee this week, we’ll throw in a ~ free ~ Melitta #4 Dripper till they run out that way if you can boil water you can make coffee. Yeah.

Check us out this week on Rosewood St OR at the Farmers Market Wednesdays and Saturdays!!! Above all print out this handy bingo card for entertainment while stroling A2 and checkin all the cool art! Thanks for reading ya’ll.
